Now Taking Orders for 2017

April 27th, 2016 by Jacki

Hidcote Blue

Yup – That’s right – 2017.

The Lavender Business is absolutely blooming!!

Just a quick informational note to let you know that any large orders received now will not be available for shipping until spring of 2017. We will still be able to fill smaller orders for select varieties for fall planting. You can download and submit our order form and we will let you know if it will be available for shipping this fall.

Please remember that we have a 4 tray minimum order. Four trays also fit snugly in our shipping boxes. Odd numbers of trays leave the risk of damage during shipment as it is difficult to secure them.

Nearly Sold Out Again

January 6th, 2016 by Jacki

Two and a half Inch PotGREENHOUSEThree and a Half Inch Pot

Our plants are so popular across the country that we are sold out of most varieties for delivery this spring. We’ve added a new greenhouse to accommodate for our growth last season and still we can’t keep up with the increased demand this season.

We are overwhelmed and grateful for the confidence people have in our lavender plants but we have real mixed emotions about this situation. We are absolutely thrilled that our plants are selling so well but dismayed that we may not be able to completely fill orders that come in now. Any orders received after today will not be available to ship until at least June which may be too late for successful planting in some parts of the US and Canada and that will be for select varieties only.

If you want to order plants, please download the order form, fill it out and submit it to us as soon as possible. (Please remember that there is a 4 tray minimum order) Victor will review the orders and let you know via email what we will be able to provide for you. If you are looking for X Intermedia, they should still be in fairly good supply.

As June is skirting the edge of planting season in many regions we highly encourage you place orders now for fall delivery and planting. Ordering early is the surest way to guarantee you receive all the varieties you want.

Don’t get frustrated……

We know a lot of you have trouble reaching us this time of year. From October through March, around here, everyone’s time is totally consumed with propagating lavender plants in a gallant effort to meet the ever increasing demand for this great plant. Our ‘Mother Plants’ are all grown outdoors in fields, soaking up the Olympic Peninsula fresh air and sunshine. We don’t keep them penned up in a temperature controlled greenhouse with artificial light nor do we use fertilizer or other chemicals to force their growth. Because our ‘Mother Plants’ are au naturel, we have only a small window of time to harvest and plant our starts. So from dawn to dusk you will find Victor either in the field or in the greenhouse planting our cuttings. (That’s the story of a farmer’s life you know)

Well, back to the problem at hand, we do our best to return calls and emails within 48 hours. (Mind you, we said we do our best.) The very best way to contact Victor is via email, info@victorslavender.com. If you choose to call, please leave a detailed message with your name and a direct contact phone number. Victor returns many calls in the evening so please leave direct numbers for both day and evening.

On another note, in October we remind you to get your orders in before the end of the year. We even throw out another reminder or two before the end of the year. This enables us to plan what we need to grow to fulfill our orders. We generously pad this amount to in an effort accommodate those who order late as we hate to disappoint. But once again, due to the ever growing popularity of our lavender, we are sold out of lavender that will be ready for spring planting. We might still have some Grosso available but it is going fast. We will have more available in June but if you have a large order and want to plant in June please submit your order before the end of March. If you still want to plant this spring email us with your wish list and we will do our best.

Order By December 31, 2014 – Save Money

December 5th, 2014 by Jacki

Victor's lavender Order Form
Here’s a heads up for all of you who will be placing lavender orders for next year. If you order by December 31st you will save some money. Plant prices will be going up on January 1st. Not that we wanted to raise our prices but you all know that story. The cost of materials to blend the soil, trays and pots, utilities to heat the greenhouses – just everything has gone up so much that we just can’t absorb those additional expenses again this coming year. We hope you will give us a few points for not increasing prices for the last 3 or 4 years. We are also offing a wholesale discount structure for your orders.

2% discount on orders of $2,000.00 – $4,999.00
5% for orders of $5,000.00 – $9,999.00
10% on orders of $10,000.00 or more.

We will also begin using a new order form at the first of the year. It will be a PDF Fill In form with a slightly new look. You can download this form and fill it in on your computer. This will help us tremendously because – let’s face it – not everybody has perfect penmanship. We sometimes have difficulty deciphering names, addresses, phone numbers, all the important stuff necessary to get your lavender plants delivered safely to  your door. We do hope that you will use this new feature. For now, submitting your orders will be the same as before. Download, fill it out, and then you can scan it and return it to us via email to info@victorslavender.com or you can fax it to us at 360 683-7830. And of course there’s still the snail mail option by mailing it to us at PO Box 2293, Sequim, WA 98382. There is some additional information required on this new form so please fill it out completely. Please note that Washington State residents must provide a Resellers Permit number and expiration date or we will add sales tax to that order. And hey, we made it easy for you by including a spot on the order form.

We are looking forward to providing all your lavender needs this coming season. You can be assured that you will be receiving the highest quality plants grown and backed by one of the country’s premier lavender growers.

Taking Orders For 2015

Ok, here’s where we are now……out of lavender plants. (Or just about anyway) The demand for lavender this spring was incredible. Way beyond what we had anticipated. We did manage to fulfill our pre-season orders and most of  the orders that came in later. Some of you may not have gotten all of the plants you wanted or maybe not a particular variety you were hoping for but we did the best we could. This high demand for our lavender plants has left us short of plants for those of you who want to plant this fall. Most major orders will not ship until spring 2015. We propagated everything we could lay our hands on to fill orders and our greenhouses were absolutely bulging. Those bulging greenhouses are now feeling pretty spacious.

We still have some of the old standby varieties and can handle orders for a few trays here and there. If there is something you are looking for send us an email with your wish list and we’ll see what we can do. There might still be a rabbit or two left in the hat.

More News on Lavender Availability for Spring 2014

March 15th, 2014 by victor

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There are two ways to look at this….For us it’s good news….We are now totally sold out of wholesale quantities of all varieties of Lavender until next fall. It’s not so good news for those of you who have not yet ordered or placed your order just recently……you may not be receiving your entire order, or depending on what you ordered, may not receive it until mid to late June or until fall. We cannot guarantee that all varieties will be available. We hate to disappoint any of you by not being able to supply the plants you were hoping for but once again, and we hate to nag, this is the importance of placing pre-season orders. We know it’s hard to think about Spring Planting when it’s cold outside and the reindeer haven’t even landed on your roof yet but it needs to be done to guarantee your order.

Our field stock for many varieties is very limited. We have plenty of Grosso but it is now too late to start propagating. The plants are already starting to build flowers. We have acquired some more greenhouse space but this isn’t going to help us with the availability of the plants until fall.

Please keep in touch with us via email, info@victorslavender.com,  regarding your order. If you haven’t placed an order yet, send us a ‘Wish List’ and we will do our very best to have it available for you in the fall.

Propagation Deadline Nearing

March 6th, 2013 by victor

SEMI-HARDWOOD CUTTINGS
We are nearing the end of the season to propagate new lavender plants to be ready for you this spring. We will be busy cutting and planting until the end of March. These new little guys will be ready for the ground in areas where the last frost comes a little later in the spring. If there is a particular variety you are looking for be sure to give us a call so we can make sure we have them available for you when you are ready to plant.

Don’t try to grow lavender from seed. Lavender must be propagated from soft or hardwood cuttings to maintain the true characteristics of the cultivar. Some varieties take to rooting better than others. It takes about 8 to 12 weeks to get well rooted cuttings in a greenhouse using 70 degree bottom heat.

We know Mother Nature has been testing us lately but Spring will get here! When it does – get out there – enjoy it – and get planting! CULTIVARS
